What's the difference between a rock and a mineral?

Ask your kids tonight what the difference between rocks and minerals is! Ask your students also what GEOLOGY is (the study of Earth) and what GEOLOGISTS are (a person who studies Earth). We've been having SOOOO much fun in science investigating rocks and minerals! Rocks are objects that are made up of many different materials, including minerals. Minerals are objects in Earth that cannot be broken down any farther. We are investigating the properties of rocks and minerals as well! Check out some photos of our 'ROCK DISSECTION' from this morning!

Extramath.com

Parents, Today I sent home a extramath.com parent information sheet. I want to give students as many opportunities as possible to learn their skills. This is an awesome free website that I found for fact fluency. Please login at home so you are able to get updates on how your child is doing. Follow the sheet I sent home if you have any questions. Also, if they want to do the pretest--let them. Please do not help them answer the questions as the assessment tells me what they can do and what they need work on to become more proficient. Thanks again--please contact me if you have any questions!
