Reading January 6-10, 2014

In reading this week we will be incorporating much of our work into our social studies research. We will spend a large chunk of time reading and learning about each of the continents. The overall skill in reading is DETERMINING IMPORTANCE through INFERENCE. We will strengthen this skill through repeated readings of different texts to figure out what the author wants us to take out. This skill will also help us to become more descriptive and creative writers as we try to tell stories without giving exact details. Look for some fun things to come home over the next 2 weeks as it is a continuing skill along with continents & expository writing!
